About

BEING & BUSINESS, created by Latela Curatorial, is a holistic incubator for artists. It provides valuable resources for emerging and mid-career artists to accelerate and (re)focus the journey towards alignment in business & purpose within the worlds of art.

Our main offering is our beloved The Artist Course + Toolkit, which is a self-led online course. Opportunities to engage deeper within the course community are available inside the course portal. This private platform provides a constantly growing toolkit filled with contracts, templates and many other tools for a variety of needs that participants can return to time and time again.

For custom advice and business acceleration, we also provide 1-on-1 Art Career Coaching.

A word from Marta:

Hi, I’m Marta Staudinger. I have spent the past 15 years working in the arts: first in museums like The National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, and over the past decade as the creator and director of Latela Curatorial where I have paid hundreds of artists thousands of dollars by placing their artworks in collections all over the world and curated almost 100 exhibitions. I know all of the in’s and out’s of what it means to create a long-lasting business in the arts, and the importance of each artist finding their unique market — which in turn aligns with their potential audiences, goals (exhibitions, grants, sales, museum collections). Read more about Latela Curatorial’s expertise here.

To round out my knowledge further: I lecture for Smithsonian as an art historian, I love to write about art and arts entrepreneurship, I am currently a Phd student studying Philosophy, Aesthetics and Art Theory in the Visual Arts, and I am a practicing artist myself. Furthermore, I have multiple yoga/meditation trainings and 15+ years of experience leading healing-esque circles both virtually and in person for communities. I also steward the GLB Art Collection.

Needless to say, I have been through it all: branding launches, failure, rupture, incredible financial success but lack of alignment, rebranding, financial success upon re-alignment, understanding when to pause and listen, learning how to work smarter and not harder. My multiple businesses have survived their start up stages, constantly changing algorithms, the pandemic, and a 3-year medical treatment I battled behind the scenes. This is because I always focus on creating a strong foundation first.

Everything I do has a focus on long-term and generative success rather than fads. I am an anti-hustle-culture, intentional being. I believe in listening, caring, slow living, and slow creating. I prioritize strategy and fluid movement over chasing acceptance from the masses.

I believe that artists and creatives (as well as healers and dreamers) are desperately needed to create a better world. I view them as the soldiers doing the heavy lifting for the long awaited and desperately needed shifts in collective consciousness. I also believe their energy and voices are often taken for granted. I recognize the many ways they are marginalized in today’s society. This is why I have collected all the tools I have ever come across and placed them into one toolkit for easy and accessible access. And this is why I have committed myself to further study through a Phd program.

My intersectional background — both practical/academic, in the arts / beyond the arts, as an entrepreneur/curator/consultant and as an artist — allows me to provide a customized and holistic approach for each artist I work with individually as every practice is unique.

Through The Artist Course + Toolkit, artists have expressed their steady increase to more collectors, securing more grants and exhibitions, expansion to larger brand sponsorships and so much more. In my time working directly 1-on-1 with artists — beyond selling their work to my clients and curating them in exhibitions — I have helped many artists secure grants, public art proposals, and exhibitions via the proposals we wrote together.

If either of these offerings is igniting a spark within you, I hope you’ll listen to that message and join me.
