FAQs

  • Both! You can choose to follow the course in the order we suggest, which includes a directional guide for pacing and accountability. This approach is particularly helpful for emerging artists who are just beginning, or mid-career artists who are feeling stuck. We curate the information in this portal in the order we do for a reason: we believe the building blocks of your art business foundation begin with discovering who you truly are and what your practice is really about. Often times, artists who follow the course cadence end up making new, more aligned work. Then, their approach to the business section is more mature and focused.

    However, we all need a toolkit for those unexpected scenarios. We understand rushed deadlines and the need to acquire information quickly. You can also cherry-pick from any section of the course portal at any time to access the workshops or templates you need. There is a full archive of information, covering any scenario you could potentially come across during your practice/business experience.

  • Immediately upon enrollment, participants have full access to the course for one year. The opportunity to extend enrollment after that time will be made available.

  • Yes, there are a total of eight assignments if you choose to follow the course route. Turning assignments in is OPTIONAL, however, we highly encourage it for increased accountability. We will respond to your assignment promptly. Some of these assignments include research around your art practice materials, writing your Artist Statement & Biography (yes, we will send you edits), creating your art inventory, and setting realistic business goals that are specific to the strategies you identify work best for your practice/business throughout the course.

  • Value Proposition #1: There are three main contracts in our portal: 1) Standard Exhibition Contract, 2) Custom Commissions Contract, and 3) Work For Hire Contract. Hiring a lawyer to develop any of these templates would cost around 3-4 hours at about $200-300/hr per template. Course participants have immediate access to these contracts, along with a video lesson explaining each contract section-by-section. The portal allows you to go directly to the lesson you need immediate assistance with, download the template, and customize it for your needs.

     

    Value Proposition #2: One of our most impactful workshops, How to Work with Art Consultants, is included in the course portal. This workshop highlights the business of selling art to the professionals who are constantly looking for new artists. Whereas galleries and museums are juggling other deliverables, like delivering exhibitions and satisfying donors, art consultants are solely looking to sell your work to their clients. We know this because we’ve worked as art consultants for the past 10+ years.

     

    Value Proposition #3: There is a robust section of the course that focuses on MONEY — more specifically, ways to earn money in the art world. This section covers how to successfully apply to grants, how to diversify your income as an artist, and how to create an income tier. These sections provide artists with clarity on how they are positioned in the market, and what may need to be tweaked if they’re not experiencing financial success.
